Dancing Otter Foods was founded in 2020 by Tom, a retired firefighter who has been grilling, smoking, and experimenting with meat for over 30 years. Right, wrong, or indifferent, Tom firmly believes that food tastes great when it's cooked right, but when it's cooked with the proper spices and seasonings, it not only tastes amazing but it’s also FUN TO EAT!
After three decades of purchasing other people's spice blends and noticing fillers, anti-caking powders, colorings, and MSG, as well as the fact that most are produced in large factories with just different labels, he thought, I can do better.
Fortunately, many of Tom's friends are grillers, smokers, chefs, and everything in between, giving him a robust group of taste testers who would provide painfully honest feedback.
Fast forward to 2024, and we proudly offer 12 different spices and rubs. Some of these have competed in national contests, with one achieving an impressive 5th place out of 276 established rub makers and BBQ enthusiasts.
